About

Who of ye is the best Buccaneer on the seven Seas? Discover who is.... in the 4 Player Parrrty Game on the Nintendo Switch. Ye and three mateys of yours are thrown on an Island with only a paddle. Are you smart enough to find the most booty with ye limited tools? Fight all the others or else feed the Fish. If you're lucky enough you might even get the sought-after treasure Arrrrr... Buck-It! is a Party Game designed to be played on the Nintendo Switch for 4 Players. Each player controls a buccaneer stranded on an island, with nothing left but a paddle. Getting the most out of this tool, it serves both as a shovel and a weapon. Utilizing the new HD Rumble feature of the Nintendo Switch controllers, the game reinterprets well known game concepts like beating the pot and scavenger hunt by leading the player with precise haptic feedback. The goal is to find the most valuables, fight other players to steal theirs, and ultimately escape from the island, saving all the gathered goods.

  • Custom input handling system to enable full Joy-Con feature support​​

    • Easily swap between different input devices for easy testing in the development environment​

  • Using the HD Rumble feature of the Nintendo Switch to implement a compass that leads players through haptic feedback​

  • Implementing an extendable inventory and item system

    • Item pools with different spawn rates for each item, based on the area of the map​

  • Throwing items with auto aim​

  • Introducing an asset workflow to enable fast swaps of game data

  • Creation of the health bar shader and the drunk post processing effect

  • Implementing a tool to combine meshes in the engine to increase performance
